The Tunbridge Wells Schools Sports Partnership held a Tri-Golf festival on Thursday 4th October 2007 which was hosted by Staplehurst Golf Centre. In its third year we saw attendance rise from 90 to 130 students representing 13 schools. These schools were Staplehurst, Cranbrook, Lamberhurst, Colliers Green, High Halden, Benenden, Frittenden, Marden, John Mayne (Biddenden), Rolvenden, Hawkhurst and Woodchurch.

Golfers rotated around six different skills stations testing their putting and chipping skills, in total playing an hour of golf. Fantastic weather made the festival that much more enjoyable and the course was in great condition which made putting smoother! The festival was a huge success and players had a great afternoon on a real golf course

The event was made a lot easier by young leaders from Angley School who ran the skills stations and ensured scoring was done correctly. The scores were collated to determine the overall winners and also who qualified to the Kent School Games which is to be held on 23rd – 27th June 2008.

A huge thank you must go to Petra and her team at Staplehurst Golf Centre for all their hard work in preparing the course and allowing us to use this fantastic facility.

We had two very special awards this year for two lucky golfers. The two students won a 45 minute lesson with a pro golfer at Staplehurst Golf Centre amongst other prizes. The fair play award went to both Cranbrook and Wittersham who teamed up and played as one team. The overall 2007 winners were Woodchurch.
