The WOKSSA Swimming Gala was once again successfully held at Benenden Girls School on Wednesday 19th June. The event was well attended with 10 WOKSSA primary schools competing in one of the two categories.
The small schools competition included Sissinghurst, Wittersham, Colliers Green, John Mayne and Benenden Primary Schools. In this category the level competition was of very high standard with many of the races being very close and some decided within the last 5 metres. While most of the races were very close it was clear from an early stage that the eventual winners would not be caught, however spread across the other schools the competition for second was extremely close with only 7 points separating the second and fifth at the final count up. Congratulations must go to the overall winners Benenden Primary School who scored a total of 32 points, a full 16 points ahead of Wittersham in 2nd place on 48, Colliers Green in 3rd on 51, John Mayne in 4th on 54 and Sissinghurst with 55 in 5th place.
The large schools competition included Sandhurst, Tenterden, St Michael’s, Staplehurst and Cranbrook Primary Schools. This category was equally as competitive although again one team ran away with the overall competition. Tenterden Primary school managed to win 12 of the 16 events coming in with a total of 24 points a full 28 points in front of Staplehurst in 2nd. Although Tenterden ran away with the overall competition only 4 point separated Staplehurst in 2nd and St Michael’s in 5th place.
Congratulations goes to Benenden Primary School and Tenterden Primary School for winning and the eight other schools that really made this swimming gala interesting through their children’s determination to succeed.
Well done to all swimmers who took part in another successful WOKSSA event that was enjoyed by all.
