WOKSSA Hockey Festival 2007

The 2007 Hockey Festival was hosted by Marden Russets Hockey Club on Thursday 18th October. In total, 11 teams from 9 different schools entered; Tenterden Juniors, Staplehurst, Colliers Green, Benenden, Lamberhurst, Headcorn, Rolvenden, John Mayne and High Halden.
Playing with full size goals on a purpose built hockey pitch complete with brand new kit, the students looked like professionals. The Goalkeepers looked exceptionally specialised with the full attire consisting of kickers, shin pads, chest pads and helmet. There were some spectacular saves during the afternoon proving that the padding works!
Teams were placed in initial groups of four (one group of three) and played each other in a mini-league format. After all matches had been played, teams were seeded and the top two placed moved on into a final match played in front of all participants, parents and teachers.

Congratulations to Staplehurst A who won the final game 1 – 0 against runners up Benenden A.
Rolvenden were awarded the fair play trophy as decided by the young leaders.
A huge thank you to the following:
