The 2006 Cross Country Festival was hosted by Cranbrook School on Thursday November 9. Almost 100 runners took part in the event which was great to see after the event was unfortunately cancelled in 2005. Students from Benenden, Cranbrook, Colliers Green, Sandhurst, Wittersham and Woodchurch Primary Schools competed in two different mixed races; one for Year 3/4 and one for Year 5/6.

Runners were entered in teams of four and the final results of each of the team members were added together to give a team score. The team with the lowest total score was the winning team.

Congratulations to Colliers Green who won both age categories. Mrs Newman had clearly trained them well!
Everybody completed the race in a good time and there was plenty of encouragement from the sidelines from teachers, parents and other runners. The cold but sunny conditions proved to be perfect for the event.

A huge thank you to the following:
- Kirstie Burnett and Cranbrook School for allowing us to use their fields
- Tony Bailey and Dennis Russell (Cranbrook Groundsmen) for setting out the course
- The following sports leaders from Angley School for their help at the event; Dec McDermid (tortoise), Amy Langley (scoring), Danielle Pryor (course marshall), Amy Lawrence (course marshall), Will Mitham (hare), Paul Cooper (tortoise), Dougie Blackford (course marshall)
