On Thursday 17 November, 13 teams representing 8 different primary schools competed against each other in the 2005 Outdoor and Adventurous Activities (OAA) Festival held in the grounds of Cranbrook Rugby Club.

The students of Benenden, Cranbrook, Hawkhurst, Headcorn, John Mayne, Lamberhurst, Staplehurst and Wittersham were all required to complete six activities, each one testing different physical and mental skills.
Teams scored points for the speed they completed the tasks and how well they worked together on each one. The challenges included orienteering, a blindfold trail through the woods, a spider’s web; in which team members had to be passed through holes of various sizes without touching the ropes, a relay race incorporating a ski-run and several problem solving exercises with a hoop!

Despite the bitterly cold conditions, the teams all did very well and with a little help from the Angley School Sports Leaders, successfully completed the entire course. The overall winners scoring a grand total of 102 points out of a maximum 120 were the students from Headcorn Primary School, who impressed staff with their creativity and cooperation throughout the afternoon.
