On Thursday 26 January, the Weald of Kent School Sports Association held their first ever Gymnastics Festival.

The festival was scheduled to take place at Angley School but due to the huge popularity of the event, a second venue at Homewood School & Sixth Form Centre was added.
Staplehurst, Colliers Green, Marden, Beneden, Goudhurst & Kilndown and Frittenden Primary Schools attended the festival at Angley School while Tenterden Juniors, Rolvenden, Wittersham and Woodchuch primary schools went to Homewood School.

Staff from Angley School ran a variety of sessions which the gymnasts rotated through. The workshops on offer were trampolining, floor sequences, using apparatus and a gymnastics based multi-skills session.
Angley sports leaders also did a great job assisting with the running of sessions and the overall organisation of the event. Many thanks to Maxine Le Amies, Amy Langley, David Peach, Dec McDermid, Chanel Cook and Rosie Langley.

Students had a great time and produced some excellent performances. The success of the event has ensured that gymnastics will once again be featured on the festivals timetable next year! Our very grateful thanks go to PE staff at Angley School (Miss Lee, Miss Heath, Mr Archer, Miss Pugh and Mr Lawrence) as well as SSCo Mr Luck and Homewood staff (Mr Howgate and Miss Houlker) for their enthusiasm and support of this event. |
