On Wednesday 30 January, 72 individuals making up 6 teams from Tunbridge Wells based schools attended the TWDPSSA Sportshall Athletics Festival. This year’s festival was held at Bennett School and was attended by Sherwood Park, St James Junior, St Marks, Southborough, Brenchley & Matfield and St Johns.

Teams of twelve competitors; six girls and six boys from years five and six took part in the event. Each participant competed in one field event and points were awarded to their overall team score. Once the field competitions were over, students had the chance to rotate around and have a go at other events. These included standing vertical jump, standing long jump, standing triple jump, chest push, foam javelin and speed bounce. All teams then competed in a relay and times were recorded and again points awarded to final standings.

The competition was extremely close with only 4 points separating the top 3 teams. Congratulations to St Johns who performed consistently well throughout all of the events and claimed the trophy.
A huge thank you to the following:
- Bennett Memorial School for hosting the event
- Lee Stoodley and Catherine Fairweather for their help in organising the venue
- TWSSP staff for organising the event
- PLT’s for their help in umpiring the events
