During the May half term, 22 pupils from the Tunbridge Wells School Sports Partnership link primary schools attended a Striking and Fielding Multi Skills Academy at Angley School, Cranbrook. Year 6 Gifted and Talented students from a number of local primary schools were invited to attend the academy from Tuesday to Thursday.

The three days included both class room based activities and practical sessions. Day one included a striking session where students learnt basic skills and techniques, followed by a small cricket tournament which gave the students a chance to show off their skills.

Cross curricular activities included sessions using ICT, history and art. Children challenged themselves to find historical facts about cricket and also had the chance to design a poster for their own local club which they would set up for children their own age. The course provided a fantastic opportunity for students to meet other gifted and talented athletes from local schools. The children participated in multi-skills testing all week, concentrating on improving their fitness and their techniques in the activities tested.
