Step into Sport is a national initiative which aims to support young people to develop their leadership skills and equip them with the skills and opportunities to volunteer in sport.
On Tuesday January 17, approximately 60 students from the Tunbridge Wells and Hayesbrook School Sports Partnerships attended the 2006 Step into Sport Conference led by Sheena Pitchford from the Kent Sports Development Unit.
The majority of the sixth form students had previously received sports leadership training and had completed the Sports Leaders Award or the Community Sports Leaders Award. The focus of the evening was to continue with this development by emphasising the benefits of volunteering in a sports club and explaining the process of arranging a placement. Students took part in a number of small group workshops and a range of presentations were delivered.
