Sports Captains For The PE Department
Updated: February 29, 2008 5:25 PM

The TWGSB school sports council is trying to help us get sports captains from all year groups more involved with the PE Department.

It gives the captains the opportunity to put forward their own ideas into how we can improve sport in our school. It is an open forum where we can raise certain issues that we believe need to be brought to attention of the PE staff and our fellow captains.

We hold our meetings on the first of every month. Mr Downing, Mr Price and Mr Luck, a school sports coordinator, make up the members of staff at our meetings.

The students have found the first two meetings very interesting, and I personally feel that it has brought to our attention great opportunities that were already available to us that we just didn’t know about. For example, it has been brought to our attention that we can become involved in coaching courses for a wide range of sports. Lots of people have already expressed an interest in these courses. The meetings also bring to our attention the amount of activities available to us outside of school, for example, curling trips were expressed. At our last meeting we also had people suggesting possible sports that we could try and do more of at our school, baring in mind the facilities that we have and don’t have.

I would like to thank the PE Department and Mr Luck for making these meetings possible and I believe that we can develop and improve sport at our school.
