U16 County Netball Report
Updated: January 22, 2009 10:11 AM

Following the great success of two years ago, the U16 netball team went into the Kent county netball tournament with high hopes and expectations to regain their title as Kent champions.

Over 60 teams took part and TWGGS were in a group which placed them against state and public schools from all over Kent. An exciting and tense quarter final against Benenden took place as both schools were evenly matched.  At the final whistle it was 7-7, so the school which scored the next goal would go through to the semi-finals. Emily Hume took the TWGGS centre pass and with pinpoint accuracy and focus TWGGS passed the ball into Nicola Adkins, who scored the golden goal to move TWGGS into the Semi-Finals!

TWGGS faced Kings College Canterbury. Both teams put up a strong fight, showing lots of determination, but the final score saw Kings Canterbury just squeeze into the final winning by just 1 goal, the final result being 5-4.

A special mention goes to Gemma Bailey from year 10 who played outstandingly well for the team.

Well done to everyone in the squad:

Nicola Adkins, Gemma Bailey, Hatty Black, Annie Byrne, Grace Carpenter, Emily Featherstone, Rosey Finney, Emily Hume and Elaine Yim
