Children from Years 3 and 4 took part in the Norwich Shine Awards Challenge for the first time this year.
At first the children were unaccustomed to working on several different activities during a PE lesson and being responsible for keeping track of their own performance, but as they got used to the activities they found beating their previous scores a real challenge.

Pupils participated in various jumping, throwing and running activities including the bean bag challenge. They had a lot of fun covering their hands with coloured chalk for the standing high jump as some of them managed to get it on their noses too!
The class teacher found that showing the activity on the interactive whiteboard at the beginning of the lesson was an excellent idea as it gave the children a clear idea of what they were aiming for. IT was also extensively used when recording the results, with pupils being given the opportunity to enter their own performance scores on the database.

The photos accompanying this report are of warm up activities at the start of the lesson. These children were participating in various drills on the ladders, each ladder with its own criteria of how to cross it. Pupils rotated around a circuit with each group reminding the next of how to travel along the ladder. Unsurprisingly the extra long ladder proved the most popular!

As the light faded the Leaders and students were still going strong and would have continued into the dark if we had let them. Thank you to the Homewood JSLA students and the Wittersham golfing crew for making it a great afternoon.
