B is for basketball
The SSCos (School Sports Co-ordinators) from Bennett Memorial and Naomi continued to support the basketball club for Years 5 & 6. The Year 3 & 4 classes also had an opportunity to “have-a-go” at basketball too. This year the SSCos are planning an inter-schools basketball tournament, more information to follow soon.
C is for curling
Perhaps one of the more unusual sports that two of our pupils have participated in! The Tunbridge Wells SSCos invited two pupils from every local primary school, who are gifted and talented in P.E., to attend a special sports workshop at the curling centre. Louisa D and Lloyd S went along to learn curling skills and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
D is for dance
Besides dance club being a popular after school activity, later on in the spring, we will be focusing on dance. In March, across Tunbridge Wells, many of the primary schools will be participating in dance festivities, with the support of their secondary school partners.

F is for football
Our football clubs and school team train and play weekly. Unfortunately, the football team was knocked out of the cup in the early stages, but continue to play in the league. In December we were extremely pleased to acquire F.A. status, as we are able to offer lots of football and soccer opportunities in and out of school hours. First Class Football have also been working with Key Stage One pupils, lots of whom, have received certificates and medals for their achievements. Another bonus for the school team has been the new sponsored kit. They are very eager to wear it and win! The inter-schools football tournament will be on Saturday, 25th March.
G is for golf
Another SSCo initiative, which was enthusiastically supported, very loud and great fun! Mr. Stoodley brought along tri-golf equipment and Mr. Parks, a professional golfer, to give the Year 3 & 4 classes a chance to learn golf skills. The children had a boy v girl competition, which involved pitching on target and chipping balls into baskets. (The boys won!)
N is for netball
Our netball club and team continue to go from strength to strength! Since moving into the “A” league the team have had a demanding training and match schedule, but despite this, they’ve played extremely well, especially against some of our stronger opponents. The netball team also have new smart kit to wear for 2006. The inter-schools netball tournament will be on Saturday, 18th March.
S is for Sainsbury’s
Almost all of the Sainsbury’s sports equipment has arrived now. (Another order for Tesco has just been sent away, and watch out for the 2006 Sainsbury’s voucher scheme.) We are currently making space for all the new resources and the children are beginning to use it.
T is for thank you
And finally a BIG thank you to all those trainers, parents and teachers who have been supporting all the sporting events.
